BiographieI've started learning photography very young with my first camera which was offered to me by my parents. Since then, I've never stopped shooting. I've studied in the Photography school of Paris and specialized in action photography. Waiters races are one of the most aesthetic event I know because it mixes sport with tradition and elegance with performance.

InterviewWR: What do you like in Waiters Races?
Michel: First the waiters race is at the same time an old traditionnal event and a modern competition. It means that shooting orginal pictures is a real challenge for photographers because you can already find thousands of photos of this event. However, every waiters race is unic and thus allow us, the photographers, to work on new angle and point of view. Second, the mix of tradition, elegance and sport competition is the good match for impressive pics!
WR: How did you decide to shoot your first waiters race?
Michel: Actually, I did not decide it, it fell on me! I was traveling in Asia for vacations and I of course took with me my stuff to shoot pictures. One day in Kong Kong, I saw a people gathering and voices announcing the start of the Hong Kong Waiters Race. I did not know what it was, but I was curious enough to go there and watch. I immediately liked it and decided to shoot it as it desserved. Afterwards, I made research and learnt about this amazing race. When I heard there is a waiters race not far away from me, I always go and shoot.
WR: What is your favorite photo of waiters race?
Michel: The photo of Berlin 1930 in a stadium is just incredible. Everything is in this picure. the waiters are running with their traditionnal attire on athletic track and the athletes are watching them! They are performing in front of the professional athletes. It says everything.
