How to organize a charity waiters race?

A charity waiters race is a real fundraiser event. It is not that different from organizing non charity waiters race but presentsa few specificities. Here is a list of advices that may help you if you wish to organize a charity waiters race:

  1. Decide how many competitors can participate to the waiters race. The more participants, the more spectators come to watch, the more they can give or support the cause and the sponsor will pay for being a partner. Don’t forget that most of the time the goal of a charity event is also to make people aware of a cause and not only to raise funds on the event date,
  2. Set a registration fee to be paid by the cafe or the restaurant participating to the race, it will help you to cover the first expenses and can be presented for the competitors as a financial support for the cause itself,
  3. Approach selected sponsors to help finance, publicize or even organize the event. For instance contact famous cafes or restaurants that would appreciate improving their image by supporting a charity project,
  4. Solicit corporate donations for drinks and foods. Sponsors will always want to promote their products with giveaways such as T-shirts, caps and drinks in consideration of media exposure,
  5. Reduce as much as possible the production expenses by hiring volunteers for your staff,
  6. Contact the local tourist office to communicate on the event,
  7. Contact local and national media such as TVs or Radios,
  8. For greater exposure, plan your event during a designated charity’s day or month.
