Press release
2010 Waiters’ Race all set for November 21 2010
After a ten-year hiatus in Hong Kong, the Waiters’ Race is now back in full force. Relaunched in 2007 this year will be its fourth year running since its relaunch. Born in France in the 1920s, the Waiters’ Race seemed then a tradition rooted exclusively in France. Today, however, the race has traveled around the world and now attracts crowds every year where spectators support their favorite hotel, restaurant or café. From its very beginning the Waiters’ Races’ objective was to celebrate service and enhance the recognition of the Waiters profession. It is an event that pays tribute to the profession and a great platform for the Waiters and Waitresses to show off their agility and professional skills outside of their hotels, restaurants or cafes. Elegance, professionalism, agility, competitiveness are intrinsic to this Race. The race now exists in all five continents and take different forms according to local customs. For instance in South America it is an obstacle race; in Spain it takes place on the shores of sunny beaches; in Australia it is run in the small streets of a market; in Iceland on a lush green lawn of a park and in Scandinavia even on a cruise ship. In Hong Kong this year’s Race will take place at Harbour City – aptly set against one of the world’s most beautiful skylines/harbours. It will be held on the roof top of the Harbour City car park outside Marco Polo Hongkong Hotel. The 2010 Waiters’ Race has the staunch support of:Public Relation contact: Ms. Margaret Kennedy (Abracadabra Communications Limited)

I was in Hong Kong 2 years ago and saw the waiters race! It was incredible? I checked and actually there is one in London! I will not miss it!
[...] Hong Kong: indeed Hong Kong has organized one month ago, in November, the 4rd edition of its waiters race, since its relaunch in 2007. Abracadabra Communications , a communication agency in Honk Kong was the initiator of that event during which 120 waiters from different hotels of the city run in relays and then alone. The event also included a children race and a Cheerleading Teams Competition. In addition, Honk Kong waiters race was sponsored by the Hong Kong Hotels Association, San Miguel, Perrier and Harbour City. [...]
