| Other rules | * All persons in each team must be employed as waiters / waitresses * Staff ID copies must be supplied for each contestant * Registration fee to be paid to Beach Rotana 4 weeks prior to the event either cheque or bank transfer * T-shirts and aprons to be collected at Beach Rotana after payment has been received * Starting numbers will be handed out at event registration desk * Participants will receive one free sandwich as well as Red Bull and water * Prizes cannot be transferred or encashed and must be used before expiry date. * The winners are decided based on speed and measurement of water left over in the glasses and the bottle on the tray * In case of any tie, another race will take place to decide the final winner * An AED 1 entry fee will apply to Khalifa Park for participants and spectators on the day Race Rules: * If a contestant drops the tray whilst racing, this will result in disqualification * The tray must be carried with one hand * Items on the tray may not be touched with the other hand whilst racing |

Rotana launches the first ‘Abu Dhabi Waiter Race’

Rotana, the leading hotel management company in the Middle East and Africa, announced the launch of the first “Abu Dhabi Waiter Race”, which will take place at the amphitheatre at Khalifa Park in Abu Dhabi for the first time ever on Saturday, 23rd April from 2pm onwards, organised by Rotana and supported by Etihad Airways, Abu Dhabi Week and W Studio.
The capital of the UAE and the largest of the seven emirates, Abu Dhabi recently hosted numerous cultural and exciting tourist-attracting events, and with the Abu Dhabi Waiters Race, Rotana hopes to contribute to the attractive events on offer for tourists and residents alike.
Dating as far back as the early 20th century, waiters’ races have been popular ever since throughout Europe and America. With an afternoon of fun-filled racing challenges for waiters and entertainment by a well-known DJ, there will be amazing prizes to win for contestants as well as spectators; these include airline tickets courtesy of Etihad Airways, shopping vouchers from Abu Dhabi Mall, hotel stays, dinner and spa vouchers from Rotana hotels throughout the Middle East & Africa.
Registrations are now open to waiter teams of 8 – four ladies and four gents per team -- from hotels in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain at a fee of only AED 800 per team.
Proceeds of this event will be donated to the Ability Center for Special Needs.
